ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT POLICY

As Yeniköy Kemerköy Elektrik Üretim ve Ticaret A.Ş., we prioritize environmental protection across all our operations conducted with a sustainable development perspective. With the active participation of our stakeholders and employees, we aim for continuous improvement to protect and positively influence the environment, as well as our natural and cultural heritage in all our fields of activity.

As Yeniköy Kemerköy Elektrik Üretim ve Ticaret A.Ş., we adopt the following principles through our Environmental Policy:

• Conducting our operations in compliance with all national and international environmental compliance obligations, primarily legal requirements.
• Analyzing environmental aspects and impacts to prevent pollution at its source by utilizing the best available practices and technologies; reducing our waste, contributing to the circular economy by ensuring recovery, minimizing environmental impacts, ensuring proper disposal only as a last resort, and protecting the environment.
• Effectively implementing, developing, continuously improving the performance of, and maintaining the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System in the most efficient manner.
• Utilizing sustainable resources, adapting to changes, and taking into account the conservation of biodiversity, climate change mitigation, and ecosystem protection.
• Prioritizing eco-friendly and energy-efficient products and services, starting from the design phase.
• Creating an eco-friendly working environment by developing and promoting a sense of social responsibility among all our stakeholders—including subcontractors, suppliers, and visitors—to ensure environmental protection and increase environmental awareness.
• Supporting and conducting activities to develop the efforts of NGOs and local authorities to ensure the continuity of natural resources and the conservation of biodiversity.
• Utilizing natural resources efficiently in alignment with sustainable development goals.
• Transparently sharing environmental policy practices with our stakeholders.
• Achieving the best environmental performance and continuously improving it by conducting life-cycle assessments at all stages of our operations.
• Evaluating the impacts of all our planned investments and projects on biodiversity and ecosystems, and developing plans to mitigate their impacts during construction/implementation, operation, and post-operation phases.
• Integrating environmental risks and opportunities into our decision-making processes.
• Developing projects to reduce the water and carbon footprint resulting from all our activities, and in this context, continuously improving performance by adopting the "ISO 14064-1 Carbon Footprint" and "ISO 14046 Water Footprint" management systems.
• Implementing and maintaining the "Zero Waste Management System" in our operations.
• Treating and/or disposing of wastewater in compliance with legislation in areas where local infrastructure is insufficient within our operational zones.
• Adopting a responsible mining approach and rehabilitating former mining sites through afforestation to restore them back to nature following the completion of operations.

Purpose of the Policy

This policy aims to set forth the principles to guide activities dedicated to providing an eco-friendly working environment for all our stakeholders and the community.

Scope of the Policy

This policy covers all our stakeholders, including our employees, subcontractors, suppliers, visitors, and the local community.

Implementation of the Policy and Compliance with Applicable Legislation

This policy has been established by contextualizing and regulating the rules set forth by the legislation in force within the scope of Yeniköy Kemerköy Elektrik Üretim ve Ticaret A.Ş.’s practices. In this regard, all relevant regulations, primarily the Environmental Law, shall take precedence in implementation. In the event of any conflict between the applicable legislation and this policy, the organization acknowledges that the legislation in force shall prevail.

Policy Review and Effectiveness

This policy is reviewed periodically and updated as deemed necessary. The Sustainability Directorate is responsible for updating the policy. The policy shall enter into force on the date of its publication upon the approval of the General Manager.
